Kick Off the Football Season in the Gamecock Village
Gamecock Village ThumbStart the football season off with a visit to the Gamecock Village before Thursday’s game against N.C. State.  Alumni Association members are invited to attend the festivities, beginning at 5 p.m. and going right up until kickoff at 8 p.m.

Dr. Harris Pastides elected 28th president

Top students awarded $20,000 Alumni Scholarships

The Carolina Alumni Association has announced 14 recipients of the $20,000 Alumni Scholarship to attend the University of South Carolina Columbia this fall.

Gamecocks Ranked 19th in Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Poll
South Carolina men's golf enters the 2008-09 season ranked 19th in the nation, according to the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Poll released today. The Gamecocks return two of their top-three scorers from a 2007-08 squad that collected eight top-five finishes, including a second-place showing in the 2008 Southeastern Conference Championship.   More Info...  

South Carolina Cross Country is Back and Ready for Action
After a summer of intensive training and dedication, the South Carolina cross country team is ready to put its hard work to the test. The Gamecocks host the Gamecock Invitational at Hilton Field in Fort Jackson on Fri., Aug. 29, to open the 2008 season. The women's 5000 meter race is set for 7:00 p.m., following the men's 5000 meter race at 6:30 p.m. The meet is free of charge, and fans can enter through Gate 2 at Fort Jackson. A photo ID is required to enter Fort Jackson.   More Info...

The University of South Carolina men's soccer team is set to begin its 31st season of competition on Friday when it hosts archrival Clemson at Stone Stadium. The Gamecocks and Tigers will kick off at 7 p.m. The match is the season opener for both schools and will mark the 35th meeting between the two rivals, where Clemson holds a 22-12-1 all-time advantage. Gates will open at 5 p.m., and the first 250 fans in attendance will receive a FREE "Beat Clemson" T-shirt.   More Info...

Ticket Information: South Carolina Men's Soccer Versus Clemson On Friday
Fans planning to attend the South Carolina men's soccer match against Clemson on Friday, Aug. 29, at Stone Stadium can purchase advanced tickets as part of The Gamecock Power Package via the official website of Carolina Athletics, www.GamecocksOnline.com (ticket office link) or at the ticket office located in Colonial Life Arena. Fans will receive a ticket for the Clemson game as well as the home match against Florida International (Oct. 4) for $10. Tickets for ONLY the Clemson game can be purchased at the gate for $5 for adults and $3 for youths (age 18 and under). In addition, family packages (two adults, two youths) can be purchased for $12, while Carolina students, faculty and staff will receive free admission with their South Carolina ID card. The South Carolina Gamecocks open their 115th season of intercollegiate football, dating back to 1892, and the 2008 season at home against the NC State Wolfpack on Thursday, Aug. 28 in front of an ESPN national-television audience. This is the 102nd-consecutive year in which South Carolina has competed on the gridiron. The University did not field a team in either 1893 or 1906. Carolina owns an all-time record of 521-523-44. The school's only conference championship came in the 1969 season when it posted a perfect 6-0 record to win the Atlantic Coast Conference title in Paul Dietzel's fourth year. This is the third time in the last four years that the Gamecocks have opened their season on ESPN.   More Info...
